Our one day Emergency First Aid Course is delivered by fully qualified and experienced instructors, and includes practical training in relation to specific areas in the workplace.

Common emergency in the workplace or home include slips, trips and falls, cuts to hands and fingers, airway obstruction, chest pain, burns and seizures, etc.

The Course will cover the following:

  • Accident Scene Safety and Management / Infection Control: includes practical training in relation to specific workplace areas
  • Activation of Emergency Services: calling Ambulance, Gardaí, Fire Service, coast-guard
  • Adult / Infant / Child CPR: practical resuscitation skills including talking to family, friends etc., to calm the situation
  • Adult / Infant / Child Choking: includes practical scenarios on the common causes of airway obstruction , e.g. food, liquid, Allergic reaction
  • Adult / Infant / Child Recovery Position: practical training in safeguarding the unconscious patient’s airway until the Emergency Services arrive
  • Heart Attack, Angina Attack, Stroke: practical training in observation, treatment and aftercare for the person who is experiencing chest pain or shows signs or symptoms of stroke
  • Recognition and Treatment of
    • Bleeding – External / Internal: practical training in bleeding control to hand/finger injuries, facial wounds
    • Shock: practical training in treating whatever is causing the shock, keeping the patient warm, positive reassurance, talking to the patient etc.
    • Allergic Reactions: practical training in relation to the treatment of an allergic reaction to food, stings, bites
    • Broken Bones: practical training in recognition of a broken bone, checking for swelling, pain, loss of movement, irregularity in shape, numbness, tenderness, shock
    • Soft Tissue Injuries: practical training in recognition of sprain, strain, dislocation, rest, ice, compression, elevation, use of sling,
    • Burns: practical training in the treatment of burns
    • Head Injuries: practical training in recognition of concussion, compression, fractured skull
    • Seizures: practical training in relation to moving the dangers from around the patient, protecting the patient’s modesty,
    • Fainting: practical training in relation to the treatment of a faint brief loss of consciousness
    • Asthma: practical training in relation to treating the asthmatic
    • Diabetes: practical training in the recognition of Diabetic emergencies
