Pól Ó Conghaile
Pól Ó Conghaile is travel editor at The Irish Independent and Independent.ie. He is also a regular contributor to National Geographic Traveller, Cara Magazine and other global publications.
He was named Travel Writer of the Year for the UK and Ireland at the recent British Guild of Travel Writers Awards.
Having grown up in County Galway, Pól currently lives in Co. Wicklow, a base from which he travels around Ireland and the world.
Recent trips have taken him to Lima, Morocco and LA, but most of his travel and food writing takes place here in Ireland. Home is where the heart is.
During his career, Pól has pioneered coverage of travel and food in Ireland, most recently developing and launching INM’s first-ever Reader Travel Awards.
He has also served as restaurant critic for the Irish Examiner, and is the author of Secret Dublin: An Unusual Guide.
Pól is a regular speaker at food and tourism conferences, and has five times been named Irish Travel Writer of the Year.
He is a father of two, and a husband of one.
