Wine Education Bursary for Sommeliers launched
Wine Education Bursary for Sommeliers launched.
At the Irish Guild of Sommeliers AGM at the United Arts Club, Dublin
it was announced to the trade that the Irish Guild of Sommeliers(IGS) in partnership with the Restaurant Association Of Ireland (RAI) are offering a wine training bursary to a lucky sommelier who is currently working in the trade.
In addition the two organisations will be running (from September) a modular 8 week training programme in wine service and product knowledge to members of both organisations.
Commenting on the launch Mary O Callaghan( President IGS) said “ on behalf of the Irish Guild of Sommeliers , we are delighted to be working with our colleagues in the Restaurant Association to offer our industry the opportunity to learn about the wonderful world of the wine business through a relevant structured training programme”
Speaking at the launch the President of the RAI Paul Cadden said that “ we are delighted to be working together with the IGS to provide the restaurant trade in Ireland with a wine training programme which we believe will further enhance the skills of the excellent front line people in our industry.
This new partnership will continue to build on the strong relationship the Restaurants Association of Ireland has with the wine trade in Ireland.”
