However, Step 1 is concerned with Staff awareness as 80% of data breaches are caused by employees. As new data protection regulations come in to effect, it appears that your staff could be your greatest threat. According to the results of a recent study commissioned by DataSolutions, 23% of businesses said they would be forced to close if found to be non-compliant and subject to these financial penalties.
It’s easy to forget that all employees, every single day handle personal data. For example, every time an employee performs a credit card transaction with a customer they are handling an individual’s personal data. Make no mistake, this is the biggest threat to your business in 2018
Assumption of compliance could have a devastating effect on a business. As GDPR compliance is a continuant, penalties will be mitigated based on the training
