About Us

The Restaurant & Hospitality Skillnet was established in 2017 by the Restaurants Association of Ireland (RAI) to provide training to those working in restaurants and the wider hospitality industry, from owners to managers, head chefs to commis chefs, and front of house service staff.

Restaurant & Hospitality Skillnet focuses on supporting those in employment within the Restaurant and Hospitality Industry. The Restaurant & Hospitality Skillnet also participate in the Skillnet Ireland Employment Activation programme. This initiative is designed exclusively for unemployed people and includes free training in skills in demand by companies combined with direct access to employers through meaningful work placements.

These courses help RAI members up-skill their current workforce and train those new to their business. This allows each member company remain competitive, retain staff and ensure they have the necessary tools to stay relevant and deliver quality product and customer service in a very competitive industry.

In 2018, the Restaurant & Hospitality Skillnet ran 54 training courses with 910 trainees from over 199 member companies. The trainees who attended the courses were from all levels across the restaurant business, including owners, managers, supervisors, food and beverage staff, and chefs.

For 2019, our goal is to continue to provide training courses to meet the needs of the Restaurant & Hospitality Industry.  These training programmes include Kitchen Management, Customer Care, Management Development, Executive Management, Social Media, Health & Wellbeing at Work, Gastro Pub Workshop and the online Restaurant Induction Bundle. We also provide in-house Food and Beverage Skills Training with Hospitality Skills Ireland, and discounts for Sommelier and Barista Courses.

Our one day Social Media course is designed by New Leap Marketing and the Restaurant & Hospitality Skillnet to teach you to attract, engage and convert consumers using an online presence.

Executive Management Course

Learn to build a growth development plan and optimise the business performance. This course is run over five months which includes six full day Management Skills Development Workshops and five mentoring workshops. Theses mentoring workshops are one-to-one, audio visual, or face-to-face.

Restaurant & Hospitality Management Development Programme 

This 8 day programme offers current Restaurant supervisors an opportunity to hone their skills and progress to a manager  position within a Restaurant or Gastro Pub. It is aimed at complementing the practical experience gained by individuals working in the industry and will provide supervisors with the necessary skills to effectively manage a wide range of restaurant operations.

Kitchen Management Training

Designed by chefs for chefs, this one day intensive workshop will guide you through all areas of kitchen management fundamentals. Food and Beverage Skills Training

In-house Food and Beverage Skills Training with Hospitality Skills Ireland provides an introduction to food & beverage, understanding hospitality, basic terminology, greeting and seating the guest, taking orders, carrying and clearing plates, and standards of service.

Personal Presentation & Operational Standards of Performance

This on site course covers everything you need to know to be a competent server, from grooming and deportment to operational standards of procedure.
