President’s Report – November 2025

Dear Members,

Welcome to your November newsletter,

Budget 2026 has brought long-awaited good news for our sector. After consistent lobbying and engagement, the Government has confirmed that the VAT rate for hospitality will permanently return to 9% from July 1st, 2026. This is a vital step in supporting the long-term sustainability of our industry and ensuring that it can thrive into the future.

This achievement didn’t happen by chance. It came from our united voice across every county, the relentless work of Adrian Cummins and the RAI team, and all those who stood with us throughout the campaign. From local radio interviews to national media coverage, your participation and support made all the difference. Whether you spoke with your local representative, attended meetings or simply made your voice heard, you helped deliver this success. Thank you for standing together and proving once again what we can achieve when we act as one. This campaign exemplifies the importance of our Association, together, we are heard and listened to.

Looking ahead, one of my key priorities is ensuring that Ireland’s potential in food tourism is fully realised. Our country’s culinary scene is among the best in the world and our restaurants, cafés and gastropubs are at the heart of that story. We will continue to advocate for increased funding for food tourism, ensuring proper recognition for the role hospitality businesses play in attracting visitors, supporting local producers and showcasing Irish food culture at its finest. We look forward to the publication of the updated National Tourism Strategy and will continue to work closely with the Minister, the Department and Fáilte Ireland to ensure the voice of our industry is represented.

As we move toward the busy winter season, I encourage all members to stay engaged, share your insights, and support one another. The strength of our Association lies in its members and your dedication, your passion and your belief in the future of Irish hospitality.

Wishing you all continued success and a strong finish to the year ahead.
