Neven Maguire Honoured With Prestigious Award

The Restaurants Association of Ireland (RAI) is delighted to announce that Neven Maguire of MacNean House & Restaurant was awarded the 2016 ‘Mike Butt Award’. The Restaurants Association of Ireland ‘Mike Butt Award’ is presented to individuals in honour of their contribution to the tourism and hospitality industry. The award was presented to Neven at this year’s RAI Presidential dinner held on Thursday 2nd June in The Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin.

Mike Butt was the founding President of the Restaurants Association of Ireland in 1970 and contributed many positive years to the development of the Irish hospitality and tourism industry. This prestigious award is presented annually at the Restaurants Association of Ireland presidential dinner to those who have had a positive effect on tourism in Ireland.  Neven received this award for his outstanding contribution to the hospitality and tourism industry in Ireland over the years.

Neven was presented the award in front of family, friends and industry peers. Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport, Shane Ross T.D. was also in attendance. President of The Restaurants Association of Ireland Anthony Gray commented, “Neven consistently promotes Ireland as a world culinary destination, he is one of the finest chefs in the world. Over the years, Neven has tirelessly pushed Ireland as a food destination and continue to change the culinary landscape with his work ethic and dedication to culinary arts. He should be so proud of his achievements and I am indeed honoured to know him and call him a personal friend.”

Neven has been named ‘Best Chef in Ireland’ at numerous awards. MacNean House & Restaurant has also been presented with many awards for Best Dining Experience, food and hospitality and most recently ‘Best Wine Experience’ at the Hotel & Catering Review Gold Medal Awards 2015/16.
