President’s Report – February 2026
Dear Members,
Welcome to your February Newsletter.
I hope the year has started positively for you and your business and that you have come through what was undoubtedly a challenging January. This year’s January was particularly tough, with the added pressures of pension auto enrolment and the increase in the minimum wage. As we move into the brighter months ahead, I want to take this opportunity to update you on the work I am continuing to do on your behalf.
In January, we met with the Lord Mayor of Dublin to discuss key issues affecting hospitality businesses in the capital, including safety, litter, tourism and how businesses can be better supported by the local authority. The Lord Mayor was very engaging and has committed to stronger and more regular engagement between businesses and the council. This is something we want to see replicated across the country. It is in every local authority’s interest to support profitable, thriving businesses in their areas.
We also recently launched the 17th Irish Restaurant Awards. As ever, it is important to celebrate the people, the food and the places where communities come together to enjoy the very best of hospitality across the island of Ireland. With nominations now closed, I wish all those nominated the very best of luck as the awards begin in March with the regional finals. We look forward to celebrating and recognising the very best of Irish hospitality in the months ahead.
February will also see the Michelin Guide Great Britain and Ireland Awards Ceremony take place in Dublin. I will be attending in my role as President and look forward to engaging with chefs, restaurateurs and industry leaders from across Ireland and the UK. The Michelin Guide continues to shine an important international spotlight on Irish hospitality, providing a valuable opportunity to showcase our sector on the global stage.
As always, thank you for your continued support. I remain fully committed to representing your interests and ensuring your voice is heard at every level.
Yours sincerely,
Sean Collender
