Contact your local representitive #KeepVat9

Dear Member,

After Tuesday’s news that the 9% VAT rate for the tourism industry may be abolished, the RAI has been working hard to ensure that this does not become a reality. In the lead up to Budget2018, it is more important than ever that your voices be heard. The restaurant industry cannot afford to go back to 13.5% VAT rates, this must remain a crucial point as Minister for Finance & Public Expenditure and Reform Paschal Donohoe T.D. begins to make decisions for next year’s budget.

It is all of our responsibility to ensure #KeepVat9 succeeds again this year. Please use this letter template to send to your local representatives asking them to contact the Minister. We need as much coverage as we can get on this issue, engage with your customers and followers by using the hashtag #KeepVat9, by following the Restaurants Association on Facebook and Twitter and by following @keepvat9. Get involved by sharing posts and encouraging your friends and family to do the same.

Both Minister for Transport, Tourism & Sport Shane Ross T.D. and Minister of State for Transport, Tourism & Sport Brendan Griffin T.D. have said that they support the retention of 9% VAT rates for our industry. Now is the time to convince the Department of Finance to do the same.
